Unless you studied finance, learning how to balance your checkbook, invest in stocks, and save for retirement is no easy task. A large swath of people in the U.S. simply don't know much about their own personal finance.
According to data from the S&P Global FinLit Survey, conducted by the World Bank, Gallup, and George Washington University, the U.S. was ranked 14th globally in its citizens' financial literacy. The research also found that just 57 percent of American adults are financially literate.
