Horror is one of the most divisive genres in media. People either love it or stay far, far away from it. Horror games are special compared to books or movies because you're no longer able to close your eyes or separate yourself from the situation by saying "That's not what I would do". After all, you're in control. You may not have gotten your character into whatever nightmare they're living in, but it's up to you to get them out.
